Water Tube Boiler Advantages
Unlike Firetube boilers, water tube boilers pass water through the tubes, which are then heated externally by hot gas from the furnace. The heated water rises into a steam drum, where it can then be reheated by a superheater to achieve even higher pressure.
This highly efficient, low emission process is suitable for gas, oil, or waste fuel firing. Since water is run through tubes instead of being stored in the boiler shell, Water Tube boilers can recover much faster than Firetube boilers. There is also a much smaller chance of catastrophic failure compared to operating Firetube boilers.
